What is an Officially Certified Spanish Translation
An official translation is the translation into Spanish of a document, such as a birth certificate or academic transcript, with an accompanying certification or sworn statement from an authorised translator or agency.
Official translations are generally required if you're submitting a document issued in a foreign language to a government authority or organisation as part of an application. The term "official translation" is often used interchangeably with certified, sworn, notarised or legalised translations, but they are produced in slightly different ways.
Certified Translations in Spain
Our translators are certified by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. We strive to use translators who are certified in the country in which the translation is to be used as much as possible, i.e. if you order an authorized translation into Spanish, it will be completed by a translator that is a certified translator in Spain. The translations we perform are accepted by schools, courts and authorities in Spain.
Spanish institutions only accept Documents in Spanish
Spanish is the only official language in Spain. No Spanish institution will recognise a document that has been drawn up in Dutch, English, German, etc.
If you travel to Spain from another country to study, you will need a certified translation of your academic qualifications into Spanish in order to be admitted to the university.
Certain documents always require a certified translation.
Certain documents always require a certified translation which is authenticated by the stamp and signature of an officially certified and sworn translator.

The Mother Tongue Principle
The Mother Tongue Principle, also known as the Native Speaker Principle, is one of the corner stones of Spanish translation and is a very important consideration when employing translators for your content. The principle states that a linguist translates into their native language. An English native speaker translates content into English, a Spanish native speaker translates content into Spanish, etc. A native speaker of a language is a person who was born, grew up and obtained his or her education in a country in which the target language is the official language.
